What many artists think about Harold Jones and his drumming!

TONY BENNETT:  Harold Jones is one of the finest men I know. I have reviewed "The Singer's Drummer" and it is a Knock-Out! I am happy that someone is putting together a history of what really happens on the road. This is a very creative work. Best of luck with the book!

COUNT BASIE:
A great drummer can mean everything to a band. Harold Jones has really pulled us together.

LOUIS BELLSON:
Harold Jones was Count Basie's favorite drummer.

BILL COSBY:
Harold is a master of mind, hands, feet and touch. His playing is very delicate, like handling the very finest crystal and china and when he is done, there's no damage.

NATALIE COLE:
Harold is one of the best jazz drummers in the world.

NANCY WILSON:
When I speak of my "Gentlemen" I am referring to a select group of super-talented musicians with whom I have had the good fortune to work. Harold was a treasured member of my trio in the mid-70's, a class act both as a musician and a man. I commend him as one of my gentlemen.

JON HENDRICKS:
Harold always pulled the band back of us singers. Harold always swings and he is a beautiful, sensitive cat.

GEORGE YOUNG:
Playing with Harold is like taking a warm bath. All you have to do is lay back and enjoy the swinging feel of his playing.

JOHN BADESSA:
Harold won the Downbeat International Award as the "Best New Artist and Big Band Drummer" in 1972. He has not relinquished his title. He is still the best big band drummer in the world.

A Customer's Review of Book

By John Hedges (Andover, MN, US)

This review is from: Harold Jones: The Singer's Drummer (Paperback)

I was told of this book by Harold Jones himself while he was on tour with Tony Bennett in Paris. So I bought it on the Kindle thinking I would know a lot of things in it. However I was amazed and astonished when I started reading it. Fom his early days to the present, Harold has been everyone's favorite drummer. I had never thought about him being "the singers drummer", but as I read the book it became so clear that he always has been the drummer that cared more about the singer than displaying his own God given talents. The names of artists in this book as well as current and former Presidents that he has been with is simply amazing.

One part of the book talked about picking up Herbie Hancock and having to explain to his parents when they would have him home. I found that so incredible.

Yes I downloaded the Kindle version but I will probably buy a hard copy so I can have the legend autograph it when I see him. I would recommend that all of you do the same. He is very approachable and you just never know when you will see him.

Gil Jacobs and Joe Agro, I don't know who you are but you captured a brilliant mans career better than any I have seen. Bravo to you both.
